Athlete Summary: 
A veteran swimmer, Michael Hoffman has excelled in the sport of triathlon during his relatively short period of competition. Accumulating numerous victories, course records, and accolades along the way Michael consistently earns podium finishes and age group victories.

This seasons results have shown great improvement in Michael’s cycling abilities and his ability to push a hard run pace off the bike. Coupled with his strong swimming prowess, Michael’s 2011 triathlon season was highlighted by a 3rd place podium finish (M18-24) at Ironman Lake Placid. Additional multisport achievements included an overall victory at the Sodus Point Triathlon, setting a bike course record, and a top 5% finish at the USAT Age Group National Championships, among others.

While Michael’s primary focus remains in the spot of triathlon he has demonstrated success in other avenues of endurance athletics in this, and recent seasons. In 2009 Michael won the USMS Open Water National Age Group Championships. In 2010 he had the sixth fastest overall swim time at Ironman Lake Placid (00:50:38), setting the second fastest M18-24 age group swim course record. In 2011 Michael won the overall Rochester Area Triathletes (RATS) run-bike-run series championship, setting 2 out of 3 course records in the process. In addition, Michael won the 2011 RATS 40K Time Trial Championships (00:57:30).

Fueled by the desire to succeed Michael looks to improve upon last year’s results in the upcoming 2012 season by focusing primarily on the 70.3 distance in preparation for the 70.3 Ironman World Championships. In addition, Michael will race the USAT Age Group National Championships with the goal of qualifying for Worlds.

A strong, highly driven and knowledgeable athlete Michael has held mentoring and coaching positions, and continuously strives to give back to fellow competitors as well as the multisport community. As a member of numerous local training groups Michael uses his skill set to help influence, guide, and motivate those around him. As an outgoing individual Michael continuously utilizes his character qualities to meet new people and expand his contacts within the multisport community. As such, Michael is a valuable asset in such avenues as product marketing, consumer targeting, and name advertisement, as previously demonstrated with companies such as Xterra and Arcadian Nutraceuticals (e21 Recovery).
